At E2Global, we know convenient packaging is a crucial part of influencing end users to make a purchase. We manufacture aesthetically pleasing packaging that delights consumers through excellent design and value. Our specialty lies in manufacturing packaging solutions such as pumps, sprayers, closures, and dispensing bottles.
Understanding Product Viscosity
Designing a properly functioning pump bottle requires an understanding of the intended product’s viscosity.
Matching a suitable pump with the predetermined viscosity can have implications for the end user. For instance, a hand soap that is too viscous for the pump will take too much effort to dispense, while lower viscosity may lead to the hand soap dispensing too quickly with some pumps.
What is Viscosity?
Viscosity determines the thickness of a fluid. It is the measurement of a fluid’s resistance to deformation, ultimately defining the necessary amount of pressure to move the fluid. It also determines the rate at which the fluid will travel in response to that pressure. Low-viscosity fluids may use fine mist sprayers to limit the amount of fluid dispensed. Conversely, a pump-based dispensing bottle is better for higher viscosity fluids, allowing users to dispense thicker product with minimal effort. Selecting the wrong pump or dispenser for the product’s viscosity can make it difficult or impossible to use, or may waste product by dispensing too much, too quickly.
Types of Dispensing Pumps Manufactured by E2Global
At E2Global, Inc., we will gladly customize pumps to meet your specific product and packaging specifications. We can manufacture pumps and dispensers for bottles and containers that suit a wide array of fluid viscosities and thicknesses. We have extensive experience manufacturing pumps and dispensers for the following fluids:
- Liquid soaps
- Cleaning products
- Skincare products
- Creams and lotions
- Haircare products
We specialize in three types of pumps:
- Plastic pumps are ideal for lotions and require no effort to dispense the product in one smooth motion. They feature a bellow design with aesthetically pleasing swirls that invite the user to press the pump actuator. Our Wave, Lagoon, and Droplet plastic pumps are also 100% recyclable to support responsible and eco-friendly packaging.
- Spring pumps provide a leak-free seal when the bottle is compressed and have a high top-load resistance, withstanding up to 66 lbs. (30 kg) and reducing the need for secondary packaging. These pumps also feature 17.5 lbs. (8 kg) of top lifting force for easier and safer handling. The metal spring features a design that prevents contact with the product, reducing risks of product contamination from metal oxidation.
- Airless pumps offer an ideal solution for high-end products. These pumps reduce waste with their advanced vacuum dispensing system and eliminate air exposure that can shorten product shelf life. This pump solution is lightweight and recyclable, with no contact between the spring and the product, as well as no tube dip. Single, dual, and triple airless-pump bottles allow manufacturers to package multiple cosmetics in a single bottle.
Considerations When Choosing a Pump
There are several considerations to make when determining the ideal pump for a product:
- The height of the bottle and width of the bottleneck need to match the pump, so it tops the bottle at an acceptable height.
- Consider the amount of product the pump will dispense. This step requires careful consideration of the product’s viscosity and the desired dosage. Testing the product using different dispensing variables can also be an effective method for finding the right pump.
- Certain products will require a locking closure to prevent unintentional dispensing. We offer clip lock, lock up, and lock down type closures.
Packaging Solutions from E2Global Manufacturing
A product’s dispensing pump can have a dramatic impact on the customer’s experience. A bad pump may convince a consumer not to repurchase your product, while a high-performance, aesthetically pleasing pump can create a long-term customer. At E2Global Manufacturing, our disposable pumps feature a sustainable design, with recyclable, renewable, and compostable materials.
